Rising over 1,400 feet from the surrounding plain, Kata Tjuta, or "many heads," has been held sacred by the Pitjantjatjara aboriginal people for ages. Situated near the more famous Uluru in the center of the continent, these striking formations are composed of conglomerate rock.
